COUNTERINTUITIVE
COUNTERINTUITIVE:
kaʊn.tər.ɪnˈtʃuː.ɪ.tɪv - adjective - ‘Contrary to what common sense would suggest’
What I'm about to say, the verse from the Bible that I'm about to quote, if we were to examine our own life closely and the world around us, may seem to be ‘counterintuitive’ at best:
"FEAR NOT, LITTLE FLOCK; FOR IT IS YOUR FATHER'S GOOD PLEASURE TO GIVE YOU THE KINGDOM”. (Luke 12:32)
We were originally created so that God, our father, could share freely with us, everything He has and everything He is.
Looking around at ourselves and the world around us, it hardly seems like this is the case! Nevertheless, I firmly believe that this still is exactly what God has in mind for us.
The problem has to do with our complete freedom of will which, for whatever reasons, and I would have to presume that they are good reasons, God felt that it was absolutely necessary that we have!
And, it stands to reason. I mean, if we were created to be like God, what kind of gods could we be without complete freedom of will? If we were compelled to be like God, perhaps it might seem easier to us and have less potential for negative reprecussions, but really, in the end would not be quite the same.
And as drastic as these reprecussions have been throughout history and certainly seem to be today, perhaps we ought to give God a little more credit - afford Him a little more foresight, understanding and trust that He has a way in mind to have things work out for the best, despite all outward appearances to the contrary.
After all, He has gone so far already, as to have stepped into His own creation, as one of His own creatures, not only to lead us back to what He first intended for us, but to give us an example of exactly what that would look like:
Ok, so maybe not many people figured it out back then, or still up until today:
“He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name…” (John 1:10-12)
Still, He is our Father, we are His children and He wants nothing more than for us to inherit His Kingdom:
And, as ‘Counterintuitive’ as it may seem, perhaps He still has a way in mind to make it all work out for the best:
"And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.
And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son." (Revelation 21:1-7)
AMEN! LET IT BE SO!
